Thought for the day and a little challenge
Coming off the whole NaNoWriMo thing where you write a novel in a month, this quote caught my attention and so it's my thought for the day from the great John Steinbeck: "Write freely and as rapidly as possible and throw the whole thing down on paper. Never correct or rewrite until the whole thing is down. Rewrite in process is usually found to be an excuse for not going on."
Now, let's apply that little bit of wisdom this weekend: Write a short story around your favorite pastime (--Writing Prompts from the 2004 Writers Digest Calendar)
Talk later--

John Steinbeck was a very influential writer for me. "East of Eden" made more an impression than "Grapes of Wrath," although the latter is obviously a classic. They both are. His style hits home with me. Thanks for mentioning him.
